The goal of the IAC is to support the educational mission of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and to foster mutually beneficial collaborations between the department and industry, with the goal of continual improvement.
The IAC evaluates the department's curriculum at both the undergraduate and the graduate levels, provides resources, sponsors design projects, and facilitates industry interaction with individual faculty members.
The IAC bring an industry component to the educational experience of our mechanical engineering students in the following ways:
Sponsor Senior Design and Graduate Design Projects
Deliver seminars to both graduate and undergraduate students
Serve as a guest lecturer for academic courses
Support plant/lab site visits for students
Connect students with internship opportunities
Serve as adjunct faculty members, as needed
Provide insights related to the applicability of the current curriculum, including strategic planning related to curriculum improvement and development
Support department processes and continuous improvement through participation in ad-hoc department committees
IAC meetings are usually held twice a year, in the fall and spring. The 2016 Spring meeting will be held on Friday, April 22 from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. on the CU Boulder campus. (Exact locations on campus will be on the agenda.) A tentative agenda can be found on this website by April 8th.
